HMRC CAN GET IT WRONG!!

HMRC have really excelled themselves today – in the post at Lloyd Richards Ltd. we’ve just received a demand for £800 on behalf of a company for not having filed their payroll on time in 2013.

O K …. so if that was right, end of story.

BUT …… wait for it … THE COMPANY DIDN’T EXIST UNTIL THREE WEEKS AGO … AND NEITHER DID THE APPARENTLY OFFENDING PAYROLL!!!! So … HMRC CAN GET IT WRONG!

While we all know that January is a busy month for accountants and HMRC alike, I wonder just how many such demands were received this morning and how much unnecessary stress they caused ?

Well done to whoever made the apparent typo at HMRC – we’ll forgive you this time ……. we can ALL do those!
